I was a student of Warren MacKenzie's at the Univ of MN in the late sixties. In 1970 we moved to Georgia where a group of us set up a pottery. In 1978/79 I was invited to teach at the Chicago Art Institute. This experience spurned my desire to teach ceramics which I pursued further at Purdue University in IN. In 1980 I went to the The Appalachian Center for Crafts, in Smithville, TN., where I met sculptor Robert Brady, and moved to CA with him in 1982.
I continued my teaching career at Napa Valley Community College, Hayward State, San Jose State, and San Francisco State. Additionally, I have taught over 110 workshops nationwide and abroad. In 1994 I started my gallery, TRAX, (so called because of it's original location in a warehouse on the RR tracks). My focus is to showcase the work of nationally known potters. I want to draw attention to the thought and discipline that goes into making a successful pot as well as to create a beautiful space for potter's to exhibit and sell their work.
In 2001 we built a new studio, home and gallery at 1812 5th street in Berkeley, www.traxgallery.com. I have about 17 potters whose work I have shown at TRAX. My studio is in the rear of the gallery where I can work on my pots while being available to help customers.
